Assessment Overview
 
LLE keeps recordings, written and reading assessments and results until the end of the calendar month after that in which the test occurred. Recordings and results are only ever released to authorized parties, normally the organization paying for the assessment. Results can be queried for one month after results are posted. If a result is queried, LLE will have a second assessment of the recording made, and either adjust the rating, reaffirm the rating, or, in exceptional circumstances, arrange for a re-test at LLE's expense.
 
LLE has a Quality Assurance program in place to ensure that our assessors provide an accurate, reliable service.
  • all assessors are required to attend annual training sessions at which they review testing procedures, listen to and discuss speech samples at various levels, and review thoroughly the ILR level definitions
  • one of every twenty assessments delivered is randomly selected for review by other testers. Should opinions on the final rating differ by MORE than one sub-level, a meeting is held to discuss the differences and agree a final rating. Each subsequent test is blind peer-reviewed until ratings within a sub-level are achieved. Thereafter, the process is restarted with one in every twenty assessments reviewed
 
The LLE Language Assessment Service provides quantitative feedback on employees' language performance. Adherence to specific procedural guidelines provided by the client is assessed at the same time as language skills.
 
Existing quality assurance / control processes and tools can typically be modified and used for the language monitoring. If these do not exist, the format is developed by LLE in close coordination with the client organization after a careful needs analysis.
