Translation - Technology
Translation

LLE utilizes the most sophisticated computer-assisted translation technology available. LLE uses software tools, such as TRADOS, to create a database, or memory, of the translations created for a client. We use translation memory tools to create a database of translations for each client and leverage those translations for use on their subsequent projects. New documents are compared against an existing database to identify repetitive text. As a result, the same text used in similar contexts never need to be translated twice. We also use terminology management tools to control client-specific terminology. The benefits are a higher quality, reliable translation, decreased translation costs and faster turnaround time.

The computer systems utilized by LLE's translation department rely on Intel microprocessors and various Windows operating systems, 2000 and XP. Word 2002/2003 is an excellent tool and supports the Unicode standard. The current version (5.0.0) of the Unicode Standard, developed by the Unicode Consortium, assigns a unique identifier to each of 98,884 characters, covering the scripts of the world's principal written languages and many mathematical and other symbols. This capability in combination with the use of Microsoft's Input Method Editors allows these characters to be entered from a standard keyboard. LLE supports MS Office (97, 2000, XP & 2003), all popular print and web publishing application formats as well as the creation of Adobe Portable Document Files (PDF). In addition, LLE can integrate images of all formats into the documents it translates and provides document formatting upon request in any of the supported software programs.

LLE will provide document formatting in any of the supported software programs. In addition, the company maintains a separate electronic mail account with a second independent provider and has its own ISP.

LLE currently exchanges documents for translation with its clients via electronic mail, ftp, web, facsimile, regular mail, and various overnight delivery services. The increased use of electronic mail has had a very positive impact on the transfer of documents from and to clients, as well as the quality of the finished product, including the ability to provide a) exact cost estimates based on the actual word count b) flexibility in meeting client needs related to software and formatting specifications and c) quicker turn-around times. Additionally, for very large files, LLE utilizes a protected FTP site linked to its web site for more efficient document exchange.

Translations can be submitted or delivered electronically in the format specified by the client (i.e. PDF, WORD, HTML, text, etc…), or on floppy disk, on CD, by fax, or hard copy (via regular mail or courier).
